So that we can have a direct definition of “call”, let’s have a look at some defining examples …
Call
As a Noun
1. Concerning a telephone connection; "she complained about several anonymous calls"; "he placed a phone call to New York"; "the phone was ringing but he didn't want to take the call because he was too tired"; "he placed a free call to his uncle in Paris".
2. A special appointment (as if from a divine source) to follow a particular course of action; "she was disappointed that he had not heard the Call to go out and heal the sick".
3. A loud pronouncement; as in a protest or cheer; "the preacher was interrupted by loud calls from the audience".
4. The assertion of a claim, especially in the phrase "the call of duty".
5. A typical sound produced by many birds; "the call of the birds echoed throughout the valley".
